Shanghai wonton soup is definitely on the most Shanghainese person's top afternoon snack list. It can be found in old lanes(弄堂), and usually run by family businesses. A bowl of Shanghai wonton soup is definitely a treat.

Shanghai wonton soup was part of my childhood memories, making wonton soup is a typical family time in a weekend, we sit around the table together. Dad will have the filling ready, everybody picks up the filling onto the silky pastry by using the chopsticks, wraps it in with hands. The competition is to judge whose wonton shape looks the most handsome.
During the lockdown, I have taken the challenge to make an original version of Shanghai Wonton Soup. Even the PASTRY! This is crazy and almost failed me, I have done a bit of the research and watched youtube channel for hours.
Thankfully I have got an experienced friend who is good at making Italian style pastry, he landed me a hand. It requires a lot of effort to knead the dough in the beginning!
